In Windows Vista, there is a way for you to add Control Panel to your desktop’s context menu by simply right-clicking on the desktop, as shown below, but, before you start, click here to download a product that will improve the performance of your PC.

Once you click on Control Panel, it will automatically open the window for Control Panel. You can tweak your registry to get this shortcut.
To open the Registry Editor, go to your start menu and type in regedit.

It should open the Registry Editor Window. Search for the Directory folder, then go to Background. Right-click on shell to create a new key for the Control Panel.

Under the new Control Panel, create a new key command.

Click on command key, then edit the Default registry on the rightmost panel of the window. You can do this with a right-click, then click Modify.

It opens an Edit String window which lets you edit Value Data. Fill in this field with this string:

    rundll32.exe shell32.dll,Control_RunDLL

Once you click OK, you can test it by going to your desktop. Right click on it, and you should see and additional option for Control Panel.
