Many people find the User Account Control (UAC) system in Vista and Windows 7 cumbersome, especially for those who need to configure things frequently. Windows boasts of higher security with this system, but it can be annoying.
There are four easy to remember ways to make your UAC less annoying. Remember to take extra care when you modify or disable your UAC because it can be a threat to your computer’s security.
1) Completely Disable UAC
You may disable your system’s UAC completely. This can make for a less secure system.
2) Secure Desktop Blackout Screen Disable
This can be a potential security hole. There are be some applications that make fraudulent “clicks” on the prompts. These are prevented by secure desktop. If you want to avoid waiting forever for your screen to show up, then you can disable secure desktop feature.
3) Admin Only: Auto-accept UAC Prompts
If you do not want to jeopardize security by disabling UAC completely, you can leave it enabled but tweak a setting on “Elevate without prompting” so that the prompt never shows up again.
4) No UAC Prompts: Admin Mode Shortcuts
You can entirely bypass UAC with a few shortcuts. This could help if you have to be on administrator-mode several times in a day. You can use a task scheduler to do this, which is a more secure option as only an assigned shortcut can do the bypass.
