Sometimes Windows Vista and Windows 7 users have problem enabling Aero. This can be easily solved by installing the latest VMware player beta. This post will guide you through the step by step guides in installing this software. Before you start you might want to download a tool to fix broken links and speed up your PC.

Note: VMware download is available for Windows and Linux users. This Beta software is very useful but it can be inconsistent.
How to Install the VMware Player
The installation process is simple and easy, but the installation process can take several minutes. As you start the installation process, this security window may or may not appear. If it does appear, click Install to continue the process.

After the installation process, click Restart Now.

Once you have restarted your computer, start the VMware player. The first time you start the player, you will be given the EULA. Read it and click Yes, I accept the terms of the license agreement, then click OK.

When you are downloading the VMware player beta, the Main Window should look like the screenshot below.

The main window will show menus that facilitate easy access to start the player. If you click the Help menu, you will be guided through to the Guest Operating System Installation Guide link.

Under the Preferences tab, make sure that the Suspend the virtual machine is activated. This is important to restore your virtual OS even if you shut down your computer.

The VMware manufacturer updates their software regularly. If you have an outdated version, you will be asked to update your player. If you want to get the latest update, click the Go to the Update site tab. Then sign in (if you already have an account) or register to get the update. Another option is to go to some websites where you can download the latest version. An example of this website is the Softpedia.

Operating System Installation in VMware Player
There are two ways to install an Operating System: 1) Click the file menu and choose Create a New Virtual Machine and 2) Click the Create a New Virtual Machine icon under the Main Window Sidebar.
After you clicked the Create a New Virtual icon, the New Virtual Machine Wizard window appears. You then choose DVD, ISO or even a blank hard disk file as the source of installation.
It is recommended to have the ISO file as your source of installation, because the VMware Player automatically detects the installation type and allows you to enter the Windows Product Key immediately.
Click Next to continue to the next step.

Type the name your new virtual OS in the Virtual machine name box and choose the hard disk location, then click Next.

Choose the disk size and the way you want to store your new OS (single or split file). Click Next to continue.

At this stage, you can finish the installation; however, if you want to make adjustments to some of the default settings, you can click the Customize Hardware.

Under the Settings Window, there are eight features that can be customized easily. The first feature is the Memory setting where you can increase or decrease the memory based on your needs.
Note: The default settings are suited for most normal functions. It is recommended to leave them as they are. The following illustrations are shown to illustrate how to do the changes.

If you want to change the default Processors setting, you can scroll down on the Number of processors cores and select your choice. You can also change the Virtualization engine mode if you want.

Then change the CD/DVD access if needed.

The floppy default setting (Auto detect) should be left unchanged.

If the default setting does not meet your needs, you can also modify the Network Adapter setting.

USB controller default setting is enabled USB capability. You can enable or disable it based on your needs.

Specify the Sound card host or choose the default setting.

You can choose the default host setting for you monitors but you can also specify your own setting. Then click Ok if you are satisfied with all your choices:

And click Finish to start the download.

Depending on your host computer connection, a message window showing how to access any external storage devices may or may not appear. No matter what, the window below should pop up.

The VMware download window will appear.

While the VMware tools are being installed, the new OS installation also occurs. Thus, the screenshot below should also appear. There will be several instances that you have to restart your new system in order to complete the installation process. In addition, a single restart of the VMware drivers is needed for your new OS to operate flawlessly. Be sure also to install all the necessary VMware drivers.
Note: Basic theme is the default setting for Windows 7 after installation, so you need to enable Aero after installing Windows 7.

Windows 7 Desktop Display in VMware Player
The screenshot below shows what the desktop (you can choose your background) with Windows 7 in VMware player looks like. The screenshot does not show the VMware Toolbar located at the top of your monitor.
If you want to use your virtual and actual OS alternately, just reduce the full screen mode by clicking the Minimize/Maximize button found at the top right corner of your monitor. Once you are not in the full screen mode, you can already access your regular system.

The Start menu and Taskbar area should look like this:

Adjust Extra Settings and Shut Down
Before you start the shut down process, remember to save the current settings of your OS by clicking the VM menu, then Power and select Suspend.

If the closing messages’ setting is enabled under the Preferences, it is normal for the window below to pop up.

After you click Yes, a window showing the saving process appears.
After your OS shuts down, the Main Window reappears. Be aware of the small desktop screenshot at the left side and the lists of basic information below.

If you close the newly installed OS, the window Machine Settings will allow you to access the different settings of the system. Just click the Option tab to show the list.
Under the General Setting, you can modify the Virtual Machine name, the directory and you can even enable the Virtual keyboard. Also remember to check the correct guest OS.

Another feature is the option to enable or disable the full screen mode after turning on your virtual systems. Just check on the box below Power options for your preference.

Select which folder sharing setting you need.

Select the VMware update tools.

Last, are the options to use the default window decorations setting or customize it and to enable or disable the Applications menu.

To make the installation process easier, you can copy and paste links and images as you work between the virtual and the host systems.
VMware is one of the best and easiest ways to install Windows Vista or Windows 7 Aero theme in a virtual operating system.
