Windows Vista’s new Aero (which stands for “Authentic, Energetic, Reflective and Open) glass interface looks cool and all, but it sucks alot of juice out of your video card, so by disabling it, you will gain some performance boost.

    Here’s how to disable Aero.

    1. Right click on the desktop and choose “Personalize”
    2. Click “Window Color and Appearance”
    3. On the next screen, click the link “Open classic appearance properties for more color options”
    4. Now you can disable Aero by choosing “Windows Vista Basic” under Color scheme

    5. If you like the new look, click OK, otherwise try another scheme.  If you want to keep Aero, choose Windows Aero.
